Occupational Therapy (OT) is a health profession that empowers people of all ages to overcome barriers in their everyday lives so they can do more and live better. OTs are university educated professionals that apply their specialized knowledge and skills to recommend a course of preventive or corrective action that will help people lead more productive and satisfying lives, trained to understand not only the medical and physical limitations of a disability or injury, but also the psychosocial factors that affect the functioning of the whole person – their health and their wellness, and a regulated medical profession; occupational therapists must be registered with their provincial regulator in order to practice legally in Canada.


In Home - Occupational Therapy Assistant

Kirsty graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree in 2016. Since then, she has worked in both the US and Canada with people of all ages to address their physical and mental health challenges in their homes, community clinics, and the hospital. Kirsty loves helping individuals (and families) understand their own unique needs, strengths and skills in order to attain their goals.

As a life long learner, Kirsty has completed additional education in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, suicide prevention, various self-management programs including training as a Wellness Recovery Action Plan co-facilitator. She is currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration with Sheffield Hallam University.

Some of Kirsty’s favourite things to do outside of work include making art, playing in the garden, traveling to new places, and making tasty treats for loved ones.

Monica completed a Masters of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto. Monica began her career working in the community with adults and older adults doing in-home safety assessments at VHA Home Healthcare. Through this experience, she leaned the value of providing in-home care for clients and their families.

Monica started her pediatric occupational therapy career working in a centre (My Place Learning Centre) and in school care (Halton Region). She worked with children of all abilities aged 2-18 with diverse self-care, sensory, fine motor, feeding, and self-regulation goals.

Monica has completed the following continuing education courses: - Brain and Sensory Foundations, First Level: Reflex Integration - Sensory Solutions - Three Learning Without Tears workshops (Kindergarten to Grade 5 Handwriting, Pre-Kindergarten Readiness & Writing, and Pre-Kindergarten Literacy and Math) - Autism ABA Help: Early Learner Course

Monica co-founded Kids Dream Big in March 2018. She is now the director and primary OT at Kids Dream Big. She is passionate about supporting children of all unique abilities and enabling them to participate in meaningful activities. Monica believes in a client-centred approach to build off their interests to promote learning through play.

In her spare time, Monica enjoys being active by exploring different hiking trails and going to group fitness classes. She enjoys visiting family in Prince Edward Island and in Italy.

Suzanne graduated from the University of Western Ontario. Her professional experience includes working in community care, school health, rehab, driving assessments, MVA and WSIB. Suzanne is passionate about helping kids meet their full potential and collaborating with parents to reach positive outcomes. Her personal experiences with neurodiversity brings a unique perspective to how she relates to clients and their families.

Samantha is a registered Occupational Therapist with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and a member of the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT). Samantha completed a Master in Science in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University where she trained in a variety of practice areas. Samantha has taken the opportunity to work and volunteer with children through KidsAbility, daycare classrooms, and youth drop-in programs. Samantha loves to dance and has numerous years’ experience sharing her passion with young children. She prides herself on her ability to build strong therapeutic rapport with children and to promote a strength-based approach. Anna graduated from McMaster University’s Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program with a keen interest in pediatrics. During her degree, Anna completed several projects on pediatric topics, including nature-based occupational therapy interventions, perinatal health, and self-regulation. She has clinical experience in pediatrics, hospitals, home care, Indigenous health, and mental health. Anna is passionate about working with whole families to support and improve everyone’s wellbeing. She believes that caregivers know their children best and is excited to work collaboratively to identify goals and problem-solve together. Outside of work, Anna can be found playing with her two pet bunnies, curling, tending to her garden, or buying more yarn than she could ever knit.

Sarah is a graduate of the Western University Master’s of Occupational Therapy program in which she trained in multiple practice areas. Sarah has always had a passion for children, working with kids in many capacities including tutoring at Sylvan learning centre, as well as volunteering at KidsAbility. Sarah pursued Occupational Therapy due to her passion to support and make a difference in both the child and family’s lives. Sarah lives a very active lifestyle and enjoys playing soccer, squash and running with her dog. Currently Sarah works part time at CATS Guelph as well as a school health occupational therapist.
